Service Description
Multifactor authentication (MFA) is a security process that requires at least two different methods to verify your identity when logging into an account, adding an extra layer of protection beyond just a password. These methods are typically categorized as something you know (like a password), something you have (like a phone or a security key), or something you are (a biometric trait like a fingerprint). For example, after entering your password, you might be asked to approve a login notification on your phone or enter a one-time code sent via text message.
MFA is more secure than single-factor authentication because a potential attacker would need to compromise two different types of credentials to gain access.
Blinn College utilizes Duo Mobile for MFA authentication.
