How to Join the Blinn Online Training Course

1. Enter D2L (ecampusd2l.blinn.edu).

2. Click My Tools (upper right), then “Self Registration.”

3. Choose YuJa instructor Training.

4. The training course will show up on the main left hand navigation panel when you first login.

How to Get to YuJa

1. You can visit YuJa directly through your browser by going to blinn.yuja.com.

2. Choose Blinn College Single-Sign-On and enter your Blinn credentials.

3. You can also enter YuJa from D2L. In your courses, including Help Files Central, it shows up on the right.

Note that if you go in through D2L from a course, you will enter into that course’s YuJa folder. If you go in via blinn.yuja.com you will go into your main media folder, at the top of the directory tree.

How to Record a Video from Your Office or Classroom PC

1. There are two ways to begin recording. You can start the YuJa Software Station directly from the desktop. It will require you to login each time. YuJa recording software has been installed on all employee and podium computers. Click the icon on your desktop similar to the one pictured below.

2. Alternatively, within Yuja, you can start recording by clicking “Create Recording” along the top. Note that if you create a recording in a class’s YuJa folder, it will be published to that class in D2L, and only that class will be able to see it. For recordings you wish to use over again or in mul􀆟ple loca􀆟ons, it’s best to create them at the top of your media folder and publish them by hand later to other courses.

The Create Recording dialog box will appear.

3. Clicking the Start buton will start the YuJa So􀅌ware Capture program on your work or classroom PC. If you are doing this from a personal home computer, you will need to install the YuJa So􀅌ware Capture program before continuing.

4. The YuJa So􀅌ware Capture program will place your PC’s video on the le􀅌 and desktop on the right. If you wish for only the screen to be captured, you can turn off the video feed by clicking on the down arrow next to “Video” at le􀅌. If you wish to turn off the screen feed, you will need to click the down arrow next to “Screen” at le􀅌 and turn it off.
If you leave both the video and screen feeds on, students can arrange the windows to their liking at playback.

Note your audio and take a moment to test it. The audio meter should give a reading, on the right. If it does not, your microphone is not working. You can try a different microphone by clicking “Audio” at le􀅌 and choosing another input, if available.

When all is ready, click the red “Start” buton at lower right.

5. The YuJa Software Station will allow options for using your desktop camera (if installed), choosing different microphones (if installed), and which screen to record.

6. Give your recording a title and description. Choose which folder to place the recording in by clicking on the folder icon (see arrows). Otherwise, the recording will go into your Default Collection. Click Start to begin.

7. Your control panel will show in lower left corner of the screen. Click the stop buton when you are done recording. Also make sure your audio is being recorded by checking this meter, too.

8. When done, if you are happy with the session click “Save” in the dialogue box that appears a􀅌er stopping. If not, click Delete and nothing will be saved.

9. Once your video has processed, it will be placed in the upper left slot at the top of your main page, below other folders. Hover over the video’s icon and you will find the mini-menu, from which you can publish the video to courses under “Publish,” find the URL (under More…, Links, Direct Link), change the Title (under More…, General, Title), and do other things.

How to Insert YuJa Videos in Your Online Classes

1. Once you have created videos, you will want to place them within your online courses. You can do it two ways, by direct links or by using D2L tools. It’s better to use the D2L method so you can get usage statistics within the course. For linking outside D2L, you can use the direct link method.

2. In D2L, go to the desired course and click Content and choose the desire module (Unit One, etc.)

3. Then choose “Add Existing Activities.” Scroll to the bottom and select YuJa.

4. If you get an “Add Activity” permission screen, click Continue. Check the box so it doesn’t ask again.

5. Drag and drop to upload the desired video.

6. Edit descriptions in D2L as needed.

7. Alternatively, to find and use the direct link to your video, check the email YuJa sent when it finished processing. Also, you can hover over the icon of the video in the YuJa folder and select More. Then choose Links on the menu at left and copy the Direct Link.
