IVC Audio/Video Issue

Support Description

Common audio issues with the IVC environment include no sound, choppy audio, and low volume, which are often caused by software settings, driver problems, or outdated preferences.  One may also encounter audio delays or poor audio quality (like echo, static, or low volume). Common video conferencing issues include weak network connectivity (causing freezing, lagging, or disconnections), and video problems such as a non-working camera or low-quality feed. Other issues involve problems with screen sharing, security concerns, and user difficulties with software downloads or setup.

Common IVC audio issues

  • No sound: This can occur if audio is not enabled in the VLC preferences or if there are conflicts with your computer's audio settings.
  • Choppy or distorted audio: This can be caused by an unstable internet connection, low system resources (like insufficient RAM or processor power), or outdated audio drivers.
  • Low volume: This could be due to your computer's volume settings, incorrect audio output settings within VLC, or amplifier issues.
  • Audio delays: A delay between the video and audio can occur due to network issues during a video conference, or from using older audio equipment.
  • Audio quality:  This may occur if there is echo or feedback, muffled, distorted, or low-volume sound, or static or microphone failures.

Common IVC  Video Issues

  • Network connectivity:  This may be the results of a weak internet connection, low bandwidth, leading to poor video and audio quality,or frequent disconnections or interruptions.
  • Video quality:  This could present as freezing or lagging, a video camera that is not working, or blurry or low-resolution video.
  • Software and usability:  This could be compounded by difficulty joining due to required downloads, firewall or browser compatibility issues, screen sharing problems, or user error, like using a low-quality built-in microphone.

Report any unplanned interruption or reduction in quality of the audio/video service in a IVC environment.  Please provide a detailed description of the problem, computer name, location, impact on user(s), and whether this is an immediate or near future request.
