Service Description
Information Technology oversees a diverse range of software applications utilized by faculty and staff at Blinn College. It is also not uncommon for departments to request specific software solutions tailored to their personnel needs.
All requests for software installations undergo a thorough review for compliance with licensing, accessibility standards, security protocols, and adherence to College policies and best practices. Please allow 1 week (7 days) for the processing of approval requests for new software installations. Additional time may be required to build and test a deployment package if the software needs to be installed on multiple computers. Please have any software installation media, licensing information and vendor contact information available.
If the software has been previously authorized for use:
- You can access approved software through the Company Portal.
- For additional software, if a license is already available, we will schedule a time for on-site or remote installation.
- If licenses are not available and a software purchase is deemed necessary, we will initiate the purchase request or work with the requestor to identify a suitable alternative.
If the software has not yet received approval for our environment:
- New software requests will be assessed for compliance and security considerations. Upon approval, we will initiate the purchase request and coordinate the installation.
- In the event of a denial, we will work with the requester to explore appropriate alternative solutions.
What Happens Next?
Submit the Request Service form, and someone from IT will assist you within normal business hours.
