In Zoom, Captioning is called, “Live Transcript.”
Step by Step Guide
Start and Enable Transcription
1. To activate it, when hosting a meeting click on the Live Transcript CC button in the control panel at the bottom of your screen:

2. From the menu that pops up, click “Enable Auto-Transcription.”

3. Once enabled, auto captioning will appear to participants at the bottom of the screen.

Stop and Save Transcription
1. To disable captioning, repeat the procedure by clicking the same buttons. The one previously marked “Enable Auto-Transcription” will now read, “Disable Auto-Transcription.” Click it to turn off captioning.
2. The captioning transcript is not saved unless you are recording the meeting to the cloud. If recording to the cloud, you will find it as one of the downloadable files available in your cloud recordings list. Transcripts are saved in .VTT format, which is accessible via Notepad or Word.
3. To find meetings recorded in the cloud, go to https://blinn-edu.zoom.us/ Click Recordings on the left and go to Cloud Recordings.

4. From there, click on the files in the recording list. In many instances it will be 3 or 4 files.

5. The file will be labeled “Audio Transcript.” This will be in .VTT format and opens with Notepad or Word.

Disable/Re-Enable Transcription
To disable captioning while in a live state, repeat the procedure by clicking the same buttons. The one previously marked “Enable Auto-Transcription” will now read, “Disable Auto-Transcription.” Click it to turn off captioning.
To disable the Live Transcript feature (or to re-enable it if you have previously disabled the feature), follow these steps:
1. Go to blinn-edu.zoom.us and sign in to configure your account.
2. Click Settings on the left menu and scroll down to In Meeting (Advanced).

3. Under “Closed Captioning,” make sure all the settings are turned off if disabling, or turned on if enabling. The boxes needs to be checked and the slider to the right to be “on.”
