Clear the Browser Cache in Google Chrome

Overview

To clear Chrome's cache, click the three-dot menu in the top-right, then select More tools > Clear browsing data. In the dialog box, choose your desired Time range, check the box for "Cached images and files," and then click Clear data. 

Step by Step Guide

Method 1: Using a keyboard shortcut

  • On a Windows or Linux computer, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
  • On a Mac, press Command + Shift + Delete.
  • A "Clear browsing data" dialog box will appear. You can then choose your desired options and click Clear data

Method 2: From the Chrome menu

  • Open Chrome on your computer.
  • Click the More icon (the three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the window.
  • Go to More tools > Clear browsing data. 

In the "Clear browsing data" dialog box

  • Select Advanced.
  • Choose a time range: For the most thorough cleaning, choose All time.
  • Select data to clear:
  1. Check every box EXCEPT for passwords and other sign-in data
  2. Select Delete data.
  • Confirm and restart: Click Clear data. For changes to take effect, it's recommended to close and reopen Chrome.
