How To Add Special Access Settings To A Quiz

This article gives step-by-step instructions on how to add special Date, Timing, or Attempt settings for specific students on an eCampus quiz.

Overview

There are sometimes situations when specific students need to have different settings on a quiz from other students. This can be accommodated by customizing the quiz Special Access Settings for the students involved. The settings that can be customized are:

• Due Dates
• Start Dates
• End Dates 
• Time Limits 
• Number of Allowed Attempts

How to Add Special Access Settings to a Quiz

To add Special Access Settings:

1. Access the eCampus course that contains the quiz you need to add special settings to
2. Click the Edit Course link in the blue navigation bar
3. Click the Quizzes link
4. Click the quiz you need to add special settings to
5. Expand the Availablity Dates & Conditions block of options
6. Click the Manage Special Access link
   
7. Select the Allow selected users special access to this quiz radio option. This is normally selected by default.
   • The second option, Allow only users with special access to see this quiz, will restrict access to the quiz to only those students that you give special access settings to. Be aware that this option will still be active if you copy this quiz to another semester and will prevent any students from accessing the quiz in the new semester until the setting is adjusted. 
8. Click the Add Users to Special Access button
9. Check the options you wish to customize. After checking the options, fill out the related fields. 
   • Checked options will Override the default options on the quiz for the students that will be selected in step 10
   • Options that are not check will not be adjusted for the student that will be selected in step 10 and will use the quiz's default settings.
10. Check the box next to the students you want to effected by the customized settings
11. Click the blue Save button to save the customized settings for the selected students
12. Click the blue Save and Close button to save the Special Access Settings
13. Click the blue Save and Close button to save the Quiz settings

After completing this process, students selected in step 10 will be effected by the new settings customized in step 9 instead of the default settings on the quiz.
