Overview

Clearing the cache on a phone removes temporary files apps use to load faster, freeing up space, fixing glitches, and improving performance without deleting personal data like logins or settings. 

Step by Step Guide

On an iPhone or iPad Using Safari

  1. Open the Settings app on your device. Scroll down and tap on Apps.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Safari.
  3. Tap on Clear History and Website Data to remove your history, cookies, and cache simultaneously.
  4. Alternatively, you can tap Advanced and then Website Data to remove just cached data and cookies, or even remove specific sites.

On an iPhone or iPad Using Teams

This is the recommended first step as it clears the cache without deleting your data. 

  1. Go to your iPhone's Settings app.
  2. Tap General, then iPhone Storage.
  3. Wait for the list of apps to load, then scroll down and tap Teams.
    • Tap Offload App and confirm.
    • After the offload is complete, tap Reinstall App to get the latest version of the app with the cache cleared. 

On an Android Phone Using the Chrome Browser

  1. Open the Chrome app.
  2. Tap the three dots (More) in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap History, then Clear browsing data.
  4. Choose a Time range (e.g., "All time") and make sure "Cached images and files" is checked.
  5. Tap Clear data

On an Android Phone Using Teams

  1. Open Settings: Find and open the main Settings app on your Android device. 
  2. Navigate to Apps: Scroll down and tap on Apps, Apps & notifications, or Applications (wording varies by device). 
  3. Find Teams: Tap See all apps (if available) and find Microsoft Teams in the list. 
  4. Select Storage: Tap on Storage & cache. 
  5. Clear Cache: Tap the Clear cache button to remove temporary files. 
  6. Restart Teams: Launch Teams again; it may take a moment to rebuild the cache and sign you back in.
