🏗️ Meet the Facilities Team
The Facilities, Planning, and Construction Department supports the Blinn College District by keeping campuses safe, comfortable, and running smoothly. From daily maintenance and custodial work to campus planning and construction, our team works behind the scenes so students, faculty, and staff can focus on teaching and learning.
What Facilities Does
Facilities, Planning, and Construction provides a wide variety of services across all Blinn College District campuses. Our work covers everything from long-term campus planning to day-to-day repairs, cleaning, and building operations.
Planning
- Long-range campus planning
- Facility assessments
- Forecasting space needs
- Campus master planning
Design and Construction
- Managing capital projects
- Overseeing new buildings and renovations
- Ensuring safe, code-compliant construction
Routine & Preventative Maintenance
- Daily building repairs
- Scheduled preventative maintenance
- Lighting, plumbing, and electrical upkeep
HVAC Maintenance & Facility Temperature Control
- Maintaining heating and cooling systems
- Adjusting building temperatures and humidity
- Managing building automation and controls
Energy Management
- Monitoring campus energy usage
- Improving system efficiency
Custodial Services
- Cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, and labs
- Supporting events and special cleaning needs
Grounds Maintenance
- Landscaping, mowing, and trimming
- Tree and shrub care
- Maintaining athletic fields and outdoor spaces
Receiving, Courier & Campus Mail
- Receiving and distributing packages for departments
- Inter-campus mail and courier services
Note: Residential student mail on the Brenham campus is managed through the Student Leadership and Activities Department, not through Facilities.
Keys & Electronic Locks
- Issuing employee keys and access cards
- Managing electronic locks and secure access
Room & Facility Signage
- Creating and installing room and wayfinding signs
- Supporting ADA-compliant signage
Lighting
- Maintaining interior and exterior lighting
- Replacing lamps and fixtures as needed
