What Housekeeping Does

• Daily cleaning of classrooms, labs, offices, hallways, and common areas
• Residence hall cleaning in shared and common spaces
• Restroom cleaning and supply stocking throughout the day
• Trash and recycling removal from interior containers and designated areas
• Floor and carpet care, including vacuuming, mopping, and periodic deep cleaning
• Emergency clean-ups for spills, leaks, or unsanitary conditions

Blinn’s pest control needs are handled by a contracted, licensed pest control vendor working under the direction of the Facilities team. Their goal is to prevent and address pest issues in a safe and responsible way.

What Pest Control Covers

• Routine inspections and preventative treatments in campus buildings
• Targeted treatment for insects, rodents, and other pests as needed
• Monitoring for conditions that may attract pests
• Coordinating with Facilities to respond to reported pest concerns

Pest control technicians are typically on campus on specific weekdays (e.g., twice per week). Exact times may vary and service cannot be guaranteed at a specific hour due to route scheduling.

Blinn campuses can attract both stray domestic animals and wildlife. While many may appear harmless, they can pose health, sanitation, and safety risks.

Common Animals of Concern

• Stray cats and dogs
• Raccoons, skunks, and opossums
• Rats, mice, and other rodents
• Other wildlife entering buildings or frequenting populated areas

Feeding or leaving food out encourages animals to remain on campus and increases the risk of bites, scratches, fleas, property damage, and disease transmission. Avoid leaving food, open trash, or pet food in areas where animals can access it.

What to Do if You See Stray or Nuisance Animals

• Avoid direct contact with any stray or wild animal.
• Do not attempt to chase, capture, or relocate the animal yourself.
• If the animal appears sick, injured, aggressive, or behaving unusually (e.g., very disoriented or unafraid of humans), treat this as a potential safety concern.

If you observe a stray or nuisance animal of concern, please contact:

• Facilities Department (during business hours) to report the location and behavior.
• Blinn College District Police Department (BCDPD) for safety-related concerns.
• 911 if the animal is posing an immediate danger, appears rabid, or has injured someone.

For routine housekeeping or non-emergency pest concerns, students and employees should use the Blinn online Facilities Work Order system whenever possible.

• Additional cleaning in a specific area
• Restroom supply issues or cleanliness concerns
• Pest sightings that are not an emergency
