Body

Overview

To set your pop-up blocker in Chrome, you need to adjust your site settings through the browser's menu. You can choose to block all pop-ups by default or create exceptions for specific websites.

Step by Step Guide

How to manage pop-up settings

  • Open Chrome on your computer.
  • Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the window.
  • Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  • Navigate to Privacy and security in the left sidebar.
  • Click Site settings.
  • Scroll down to the Content section and click Pop-ups and redirects.

Choose a default setting

From the "Pop-ups and redirects" page, select your preferred default behavior:

  • Don't allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects (Recommended): This option keeps the pop-up blocker on for all sites.
  • Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects: This will disable the pop-up blocker entirely.

Allow or block pop-ups for specific sites

If you want to allow or block pop-ups for an individual website, you can add it to an exception list.

  • Navigate to the Pop-ups and redirects settings page (see instructions above).
  • Scroll down to the Allowed or Not allowed section.
  • Click the Add button next to the desired section.
  • Enter the web address of the site and click Add.
  • To block a site that was previously allowed, find it in the "Allowed" list and click the three-dot icon next to it.
  • Select Block.

Manage pop-ups for a single site on the fly

When Chrome blocks a pop-up, a small Pop-up blocked icon will appear in the address bar.

  • To see a blocked pop-up, click the icon and then click the link for the pop-up you want to view.
  • To permanently allow pop-ups for that site, select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site].
