Overview
You should clear the history and website data in Safari to protect your privacy, secure your data, and free up storage space. It removes records of visited websites, recent searches, and cached data, which can be helpful for privacy or to troubleshoot issues. Clearing history also logs you out of most websites.
Step by Step Guide
On a Mac:
- Open Safari: Launch the Safari browser on your Mac.
- Access History: Click on "History" in the top menu bar.
- Clear History: Select "Clear History...".
- Choose Time Range: A dialog box will appear. Use the dropdown menu to select how far back you want to clear the history (e.g., last hour, today, all history).
- Confirm: Click "Clear History" to finalize the process.
On an iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings: Go to the Settings app on your device.
- Open Apps: Scroll down and tap on Apps.
- Find Safari: Scroll down and tap on "Safari".
- Clear History and Website Data: Tap "Clear History and Website Data".
- Confirm: Tap "Clear History and Data" to confirm your choice.
