Guest Wireless on a MacBook (Apple OS X)

This article provides step by step instructions on how to connect to the BlinnGuest Wireless system on a Macbook.

Direct Connect

1.  Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left corner.  Launch System Settings and select Network, then Wi-Fi. 

2.  Select BlinnGuest from the Network Name pop-up menu.

3.   When prompted, enter the Blinn College guest username and the provided password.

• Username: appropriate guest username for the current term

• (i.e. SpringVisitors@buc.blinn.edu, SummerVisitors@buc.blinn.edu, FallVisitors@buc.blinn.edu)

4.  If prompted, continue and use your security measure to accept the certificate.

5.  You should now be connected to the BlinnGuest network.

 

Manually Connect

If connecting directly to BlinnGuest does not work on your computer, please follow these manual instructions.

1.  Click the Wi-Fi icon in the upper-right hand corner of your screen and click Wi-Fi Settings.

2.  Click on Details.

3.  Select Proxies on the left-hand column and turn on Auto Proxy Discovery and click on OK.

4.  Turn Wi-Fi Off and back On and click on Other …

5.  In the box next to Network Name, type “BlinnGuest”. Next to Security, select WPA2 Enterprise. After changing the Security option, you will have more information to fill in.

6.  Next to Mode, select Automatic. Enter the Blinn College guest username and the provided password.

• Username: appropriate guest username for the current term
• (i.e. SpringVisitors@buc.blinn.edu, SummerVisitors@buc.blinn.edu, FallVisitors@buc.blinn.edu)

7.  If prompted, continue and use your security measure to accept the certificate.

8.  You should now be connected to the BlinnGuest network.
