Overview
To report a phishing email in Outlook, select the email and then use the Report Message button on the Home tab (or the Report dropdown on the ribbon), choosing Phishing. After confirming the report, the email will be moved to your Junk folder, and a copy will be sent to Microsoft for analysis to help improve their spam filters.
Step by Step Guide
For Outlook Desktop & Web:
- Select: the suspicious email in your message list.
- In the menu bar (the ribbon), find the Home tab.
- Click the Report Message button or the Report dropdown menu.
- Select Phishing from the options that appear.
- A pop-up may ask you to confirm, so click Report or OK.
For Outlook on Mobile (iOS & Android):
- Select: the email you want to report.
- Tap the more options icon (three dots, "...") at the top of the screen.
- Choose Report Junk or Report Phishing.
- Select Phishing from the subsequent options.
Additional Information
What Happens Next:
- The email is moved to your Junk Email folder.
- A copy of the message is automatically sent to Microsoft's security team to help train their spam filters.
