Editing Syllabus Schedules Using Templates

Overview

Enter the general overview of the article here.

Step by Step Guide

1.   Login to Concourse through Ecampus to find your course, then click on its name to begin editing.

2.   From the Syllabus dropdown menu at upper left, click “Edit.”

3.   You now see the editable sections. Click the one for Meeting Time to edit the Schedule.

4.   Now find the Word HTML Code or Excel template for your course schedule template. Go to Blinn Technology’s Concourse Templates folder in SharePoint: https://bucblinn.sharepoint.com/sites/BlinnTechnology/Concourse%20Templates/Forms/AllItems.aspx

(You can also find it by doing a search for “Concourse Templates” in SharePoint. Click the Office 365 icon on my.blinn.edu and type in “Concourse Templates” in the search bar.)

Open the desired template in that folder. (Note that a link to the Academic Forms folder will be at the top with more current templates for this school year.)

5.   When choosing an HTML template in Word, you will find a table of contents at the top of the document listing different options. For instance, for Summer I you will see options for blended and online, 5, 8 and 10 weeks, etc. Decide which one you want, scroll down to it and highlight all the HTML code for that type of course (it’s usually two to four pages of code). Then copy it via right clicking your mouse or use keyboard shortcut Ctrl-C.

6.   Back in Concourse, place your mouse again in the Meeting Time section (see Step 3). Then, click the Source Code button (last one to the right, looks like this: < >).

7.   In the Source Code window, place your cursor at the top and either right click your mouse and choose Paste or use keyboard shortcut Ctrl-V to paste the code in.

8.   Once the code is pasted in, click OK at bottom right.

9.   You can now delete the text in red at top, including the reminder to instructors. You can begin editing dates and other information without going back to the Source Code window. You can also go back and do additional edits here later.

10.   If you need to add or delete rows or columns, use the Table button at upper right.

Excel Templates
11.   If choosing an Excel template, you will follow a similar procedure except you won’t need to use the Source Code button in Step 6. Find your desired Excel template in the Concourse Templates folder from Step 4.  Open it, highlight the rows and columns with text, right click and copy or use keyboard shortcut Ctrl-C.

12.   Return to editing the schedule as in Step 3. This time, simply paste the Excel data directly into the Notes window
instead of clicking on the Source Code < > button.

13.   Ignore the dotted lines, they won’t show up. Column width will adjust automatically. Make changes and add or delete columns and rows with the Table button.

14.   Once you are happy with the way things look, click Save at bottom left of the editing window. You can return and edit again as needed. If you click Save & Notify, everyone enrolled in the course will receive an email regarding the changes.
