Respondus Lockdown Browser Installation and Usage Instructions

(2) If the file does not automatically unzip, locate the ZIP file in the Downloads folder and double-click it to open the Archiver and extract the installation files.

The page completes the Mac installation instructions by directing students to locate and open the “Install Respondus LockDown Browser xxxxxxxxxx.pkg” file, where the x characters represent the institution ID, and then accept the default prompts to install LockDown Browser. Under the heading “Start the Browser,” students are instructed to return to the eCampus exam, click the “Launch LockDown Browser” button, and allow any requested permissions. A screenshot shows a quiz requirements page with buttons labeled “Download Respondus LockDown Browser” and “Launch LockDown Browser.” Under the heading “Taking an Exam,” the page explains that once an exam has started, students are locked into the testing environment and cannot print, copy, access other websites, use other applications, perform web searches, send instant messages, minimize the browser, or use browser functions that would leave the exam. After completing the exam, students may exit LockDown Browser and the computer returns to normal operation. The page also explains that if a student needs to exit before submitting the exam, such as during an emergency or internet failure, the student must provide a reason for leaving early, which instructors can review within the LockDown Browser dashboard.
