Opening a Microsoft 365 Doc from eCampus Without Having Microsoft 365 Installed

Overview

This article provides step by step instructions on how to download a Word file from ecampus then upload the file to OneDrive and open with Microsoft 365 for editing.  While this is a rarely necessary, it does provide an alternative means of opening and editing a Word file.

Problem

Your professor has a file in Microsoft 365 format on eCampus, but you do not have Microsoft 365 installed on your computer.

Resolution

All current Blinn students have a subscription to Microsoft 365. Download the file to your local computer first, then upload it into Microsoft 365.

1.    From eCampus, click on the dropdown arrow next to the file and choose Download.

2.    The file will automatically download to your computer’s downloads folder.

3.    Next go to the Microsoft 365 Applications page from the icon on my.blinn.edu.

4.    From the Copilot page, click on App Launcher  then choose OneDrive.

5.     Once OneDrive opens, click Create or Upload and select Files upload.

6.     Navigate to the Downloads folder and locate the file to upload.

7.    The file will be uploaded to your OneDrive.

8.    Locate the file and click on the file name to open it.  The file will open in Microsoft 365 web. The file can then be edited, saved, downloaded to the your desktop, and uploaded to a dropbox if needed.
